The business lawyer, or corporate lawyer, is a modern and highly sought-after professional figure in the legal and business world, enjoying great prestige thanks to their unique ability to combine advanced legal training with broad skills in law, analysis, and economics.
The business lawyer, or corporate lawyer, informs the company about opportunities, risks, and business impacts related to new provisions and regulations; provides legal assistance and advice to organizational units, also handles legal disputes and litigation, and drafts national and international contracts.
The business lawyer carries out numerous and varied activities. They provide legal advice to companies, interpreting laws, regulations, and treaties to guide the company in the proper conduct of business activities. They handle the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts, working closely with company representatives to clearly define the terms and conditions of commercial transactions and protect the company's interests. In the field of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), this professional plays a key role, guiding the company through processes that include negotiations, legal due diligence, drafting agreements, and coordinating with other consultants. They also deal with corporate and labor law matters, providing advice on issues related to the formation, management, and dissolution of companies and employment relationships. Finally, they represent and defend the company in the event of legal disputes, handling civil lawsuits, arbitrations, mediations, and negotiations of settlement agreements.

Among the activities carried out are: drafting contracts, developing and implementing company policies, managing disputes and lawsuits, providing advice for mergers or acquisitions of other companies, assessing and mitigating legal risks, negotiating with internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the corporate lawyer must possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, as they often have to negotiate with other companies, business partners, and regulatory authorities. To become a corporate lawyer, it is necessary to obtain a law degree and then specialize with a Master's in corporate law, or attend specialization courses in commercial law and corporate law.
